to clarify, i bought the U-shaped tools from walmart for $3 after the
coathangers didn't work.  you may also be able to use some nails, but
i figured that $3 was cheap enough not to bother.

the U-shaped tools will work with most DIN radios, and have convenient
notches in their ends to grab the radio so you can pull it out with the
tools, instead of having to hold them apart while you use your third
hand to pull on the radio.
