Listers,

While driving on the freeway yesterday, the 95.5 S6 Avant dies. The tach
dropped to zero - no power. Was able to get off the freeway and do some
thinking. On Monday, Anderson Motor Sports pulled the codes as a result of
some previous engine kills and stumbles at highway speeds. The code pointed
to the cam placement sensor. If that is what caused yesterday's problem, I
understand that the timing belt has to come off to replace it. If true, I
will be doing a belt/pump change.

What is the lists conventional wisdom on pump replacement? Audi rebuilds
vs. less expensive aftermarket types.

All thoughts welcome.
