[S-cars] oil additive

Clayton,

either stick with your Mobile 1 and be happy that you're not
leaking/burning oil, or move to a thicker formulation (of either dino
oil or synthetic), or mix the two together. Don't bother with
aftermarket oil additives, as the benefit is questionable at best
(unless you're trying to sell an oil-burner to an unsuspecting mark).
Restore is effectively a very high viscosity dino oil (think gear oil
-- 90 weight?) and that effectively negates quite a few of the benefits
of using a light synthetic to begin with. If you're not concerned with
worries about leaking oil seals, consider using an engine flush at time
of oil change (before the oil change). If you are already using a
5-W-something, skip the engine flush, as it will make the resulting oil
too thin even for the flush period.

Cheers!

Second question:
I am running mobil 1 through my 92 with just under 120K. I would like
to
put in some sort of oil additive as my miles continue to grow. I have
a GM
454 and I know that the additive I put in that (Restore) has helped in
it's
almost perfect running condition at 160K. Does anyone have any
suggestions
in terms of putting something in my synthic oil to add to the life of my
engine?
