There is no reason you can't do the head and then follow with the other
goodies when the pocketbook recovers. I would recommend a few things though.
Make sure you go with new lifters. I have Bilstein lifters(the very same as
the shocks) but I hear they are no longer available. RS2 exhaust cam is the
only cam you have to change. The 7A cam is supposed to work as well or better
although I have yet to see firm data to support this. The RS2 cam does
enhance the lowend which is especially important when you add that larger
turbo. A steel head gasket and a set of ARP Raceware studs will hold that
head in place when the flow is increased.
While you have that head out you could think about a port and polish(no
inference on your lineage Pauley). There has been much debate over the years
on the benefits of this mod to the AAN head. I personally like it but Mike
Pederson did pull 388hp at the wheels NCFS(not corrected for snot) with a
stock head on 91 octane pump gas. That may have been, however, the only piece
on that engine that was close to stock. After seeing the flow results on my
ported head, rumor has it that he was goin in for the count. HTH.
Hap, feelin the flow or was that snow in Everboost, Maguire
