Ken, you have to drop the tranny to replace the release
bearing(s), and if you are going to go through the effort
to drop it, unless you replaced all the other friction
surface items in the clutch within the last month or three,
replace them while you have the tranny out. Definitely
replace the clutch plates by all means, throw-out bearings,
all the standard parts. While you're down there, replace
the parking brake (e-brake) cables, check the u-joints on
the drive shafts (and the shafts themselves) -- if they are
bad, now would be the time to replace/repair them, and do
maintenance on the rear diff (new fluids, check all the
coupling and vacuum lines, etc).

Cheers
