[s-cars] source of stuttering...warn CV joint centre drive shaft

mechanic says its a worn CV joint on the drive shaft -
will have it rebuilt (~CAD$300+ labour) - rattled
under load even when on the lift...

anyone else experience this problem? cost to solve it?
what the cost of a new drive shaft? - apparently they
are the same part as used on the old 5000 - but we
can't find a new one so rebuild is the only option...
