[s-cars] Coolant Heresy?

I remember way back in the dark ages, prolly three or four years ago,
someone on the qlist changed over to this stuff, or perhaps the older NPG
(not the new NPG+). If memory serves (which is usually a risky assumption),
great success was had, along with some interesting times. It was good to get
rid of all the water in the cooling system. The cooling system was allowed
to run unpressurized with the NPG, and used the same thermostat. This
allowed the residual water to boil, and to come out in puffs as it was
gradually displaced. Kind of disconcerting to see steam coming from under
your hood, expecting it, but having a trained reaction of "Oh, crap, I'm
overheating! Oh, yeah (sheepishly), no I'm not...".
No genius here (he says, opening the door...), but it sure seems like a good
idea, if only for longevity of hoses and for peace of mind. I suspect the
thermostat will control engine temps more than coolant boiling point, unless
you change the tstat. I would also guess that Hanz und Franz designed the
tolerances to run correctly at whatever temps the tstat allows, so going to
a higher temp tstat might not be such a good idea.

The only coolant that works for our cars is the Audi OEM coolant.
That said, has anyone ever considered Evans NPG+ Racing Coolant?

Supposedly it was used in the Sprongel S2 rally car. In comparing boiling
point vs oem, boiling point is about 100 degrees F higher; about 370 vs 270
for the oem coolant.
My take is that it may create better detonation.
Geniuses?
