Whoa, whoa, whoa there, killer...
I forgot to insert a nugget after my wiseass comment.
Remove instrument cluster and spray some Stabilant-22
in there.  It's contact enhancer, probably just a
dirty connection in there.
I had the same thing happen in the '91 V8Q, except the
speedo just jumped all over the place intermittently.
I speed most of the time, so that gauge is mostly
irrelevant and I let it be.  Doesn't do it anymore.
Try the contact enhancer before you go replacing that
cable.
