little bit more than) curiosity, how many on the list think they would be
seriously interested in the larger front mounted intercooler option?
I'm looking for some ballpark guess as to possible "serious" or even semi
serious numbers to try to figure if there would be some synergy or savings
to trying to do a batch of these in one group ~ I can't give any real
specifics on what the costs would be, but my guess would put things in the
roughly $1250 to maybe $1500 for the IC parts ready to install, + $??? to do
the bumper modifications, mount and fittings for a car. Its possible the
parts could be less, depending, but I'd rather guess a bit high than too
low.
I think I'm close to a FMIC design/setup that would (should) or could fit
without significant "exterior" body work or modification - i.e. your stock
US spec front bumper skin should fit over the IC. The design does require
some extensive modification to the internal 5mph aluminum bumper battering
ram. Those changes really shouldn't be visible from the exterior of the
car, unless you want them too. I think the setup looks like it will work
without having to move or relocate the stock oil cooler, making the
additional costs of switching to a larger oil cooler in old stock IC
location optional with the user.
Anyhow, let me know your thoughts, if any..... I'll have to pull the front
off the Avant wagon to check the final fit etc. again. Last, to put this
together if the re-fitting works well, we would need to be talking making a
significant deposit (@ $500 +/-) once final details etc & firm cost
estimates could be put together.
