Based on my recent experience and the musings of others, don't
overlook proper torquing (and inspection of) the cast bracket
which hold the ilder pulley and alternator to the engine. Even
though not called for by either Bentley or Audi, some wrenches
replace this bracket when you change the belt. My dealer claims
this bracket is near impossible to find right now. He also tells
me that new heads are upwards of $5K.

I still have no idea what our recent 6 week excursion through
the shop cost, but I'd guess with labor that it would approach
$7-8K. (new head, new valves, new belt, new bracket, add liberal
amounts of labor, repeat as required)
