I would abide by SJM's advice and do the ECU access bit, or get a VAG-COM
connected to reset codes. VAG-COM www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/index.html is a
useful addition to any Audiot's tool chest, worth buying if you don't
already have it. ProDiag http://shadetreesoftware.com/prodinformation.html
is a potential alternate to VAG-COM, no personal experience but some
notorious listers swear by it. You could also borrow a nearby friend's
VAG-COM or ProDiag - where do you live?
-Ian Duff, New Bedford, MA, happy to VAG-COM your car if you're close by.

Subject: [s-cars] Resetting ECU - Clearing Fault Codes
Pulled fault codes the other day and got 2413. Appears my MAF is amiss as
well. I cleaned her up (wires and connectors) and now want to clear the
codes. Scott M's site indicates accessing the ECU via the footwell carpet
route. Is this absolutely necessary or can I merely disconnect the battery?

P.S. Doing Eibach/Bilsteins starting in about an hour.
