Hi Robert;

Yup, if you use the Bentley procedure the mechanism will likely break. BTDT
on my '91 200q. The best method I found to remove the glass was to move the
glass to each extreme to open up each corner, reach in with a long thin
screwdriver, and pop off each clip to release the glass. You should be able
to epoxy the mechanism back together.

I need a new mirror adjustment mechanism for the driver's side.  Followed
Bentley instructions on the glass removal and half of the adjustment
mechanism came out with the glass.  Upon inspection I don't see how the
mechanism wouldn't break if you use their removal procedure.
