Hey everyone-
I know that there have been a bunch of posts about this lately, but I need
to confirm a couple things, and I apologize in advance for duplicating
anything that's been discussed previously.
I need to replace the shocks/struts on my 92. Have purchased a set of
Bilstein HD's from someone who was unsure of their original application.
Just called Bilstein to confirm, as the numbers don't match what has been
posted on Jimmy's site, but they are for an Audi 100 91-96, so I was told
they'll also fit my 92
//S car. Hopefully I'm not being misled here... I also plan on keeping my
92 springs.
Now, I've got the infamous "cupping" wear on the inside of my right front
tire. Does this point to worn out control arm bushings? other symptoms
include "clunking" on occasion when taking corners, especially over an
uneven pavement surface. Should I just replace those, or buy a bushing kit
and do them all? Is it possible to do them all without too much difficulty,
or is this a major PIA (which, I seem to recall reading). I was planning on
utilizing a machine shop for some of the press work to save myself
headaches, unless anyone out there has an easier BTDT.
I'll also be ordering upper strut mounts for the front. Anything else come
to mind? BTW, what tool do I need for removing the cap of the strut
housing? I think I used a pair of vice grips and a lot of penetrating oil
when I did struts on my former P&*$_!e.
Anyway, TIA, and feel free to contact me off-list if any of this is
redundant. I'm going to begin searching Bentley and see if what I can pull
up.
