Ian,
I guess that settles it.  The port does reside behind the cash register.  I'm
guessing there must be some sort of pump that enables charging into the
system at those pressures.  Normally, a static system's pressure is over 100psi,
which would be well beyond the pressure found in a keg of refrigerant.  The
other option I'm looking in to would be to have an A/C shop modify one of my low
side lines to include a port for charging.
