Fred:

Good point!

My center support bearing was tired, and for some reason, the center u-joint
would hit the shield, but only in rainy conditions. I never could figure
out "why" only in the rain, but I replaced the center support with a BMW
part, and I bent the shield down a little bit, and these solved the problem.

The UrS cars have a driveshaft shield which separates the driveshaft from
the forward part of the exhaust. If someone bent the shield or really,
really screwed up the installation, it may be possible the shield is
touching the driveshaft.

Is it possible the rubbing could be something (driveshaft?) rubbing
exhaust under certain rpms or load conditions. Especially if motor
mounts are worn or shot as would be likely at 125Kmi.
