[s-cars] Bilstein Sports - Okay to run with stock springs?

Hi Paul;

The Bilstein Sports are made for shorter springs and have less extension
travel than the HDs - about 1 inch less if I recall correctly. The Sport
shocks also have slightly stiffer valving to match the shorter springs. You
can use the Sports with stock springs but the suspension extension will be
reduced by 1 inch or so and the ride may be a bit stiffer because the
valving won't be matched to the spring. Some shocks have a "sweet spot" at
normal ride height to soften the ride - I suspect the Bilsteins aren't
designed this way, but if they are you won't be in the "sweet spot" with the
Sports and stock springs. The Sports are made to be used on lowered cars.

my 93 S4 has a bad front right shock. I purchased two bilstein sports,
knowing
that I have two bilstein HDs that came with the car.

Can I just install these two bilstein shocks, get an alignment, and run the
stock springs?

What are the differences between bilstein sports and HDs?

Paul
