Bill,
Sounds to me like they should look at the water pump and also check
the top end for damage- botched timing belt job. Timing off and water
leaks? Big red flag in my eyes. Hope things go well, I'd have a sit-down
with the dealership service manager.

Sorry that one missed ..try this:
""
I brought my 1998 A8 with 104K miles in for maintenance, which included,
timing belt, tensioners, water pump, v-belt and front brakes.

When I went to pick up the car, it ran like a diesel truck, due to the
timing being off on one of the cams. Three days latter I pick the car up
for the second time, this time she's purring like a kitten.

A few days latter the coolant light comes on, check the coolant level
and it's slightly low, I talk to the dealer, and they suggest that if
was probably due to an air bubble, so I add a little water. 1000 miles
later, the coolant warning light comes on and there's is a small puddle
under the car, check the level an sure enough its below the minimum
mark, I bring it back to the dealer to find the leak, they call back,
tell me its an air bubble (I guess I imagined the wet spot), at this
point I'm ready to blow my stack, and tell them to keep looking, they
call me back and tell me the leak is coming from an elbow that is around
the back of the engine, is labor intensive and will cost $900 (Now I
blow my stack), they agree to cover 1/2, I think they should cover the
whole thing, considering that my car has never had a problem since day
one. I no so naive to think that a car with 104K won't start to show
some ware, but I thinks its funny that this ware shows up after regular
maintenance service.

Tell me what you think.
