[s-cars] NAC: biggest engine in American Muscle Car

The new Viper is 500cid/500hp/500lb-ft.

Buick Regal T-Types and GNs are the reason why I laugh when people
think they're hot sh*t with 12s Audi S4s. Given proper driver
experience in drag racing, it is so much cheaper and easier to take
a GN into the 11s if all we're talking about is the 1320.

Give me a GN for drag racing, an Evo8 for the track and an S4tt Avant
for
daily driving.

Don't know if anybody has mentioned the Dodge Viper yet.

The older ones had an 8 liter (488? Cu In) V10, that was over 400 HP
depending on the year. I understand the current Viper SuperGee-Whiz
model has a larger V10 that's rated 500 HP.

Also, I don't see the Buick V6 turbos mentioned. I don't have the specs
on them, but some of them are running around that are as improved as
some of our UrS cars. At that stage, they are making lots and lots of
horsepower.

Talking about crate engines. Frederic, these are complete engines sold
by the manufacturers - that don't necessarily meet emission standards or
any other regulation to speak of. I know Chrysler (The parent of Dodge)
sells both various V8 crate engines and a V10 crate engine. Some of
these engines are way over 500 HP direct from the factory, and are ready
to bolt into your (race) car. Of course, these are intended for off
road use only. Right.

If you are really interested in some of these, I'll turn a friend or two
that are into older supercars and hot rods loose on finding something
for you :-)
