[s-cars] What does code 4444 mean?

My 1995 S6 ran fine down and back to the S-car fest at Paul's.
Wednesday I filled up on Sunoco 94 (supposedly) but didn't have any
opportunity to run the car hard Wednesday or Thursday.  Yesterday,
Friday, when I did push it I noticed when trying to accelerate that the
car was "acting up."  Acceleration was somewhat intermittent or at least
weak.  Perhaps water in the gasoline.  There are, as we all know too
well, a plethora of engine problems that have similar effects.  I am
looking into them.  It was too bright out to drive and also watch my
A'pexi readout for what boost was actually achieved.  There are no
obvious hose breaks on the top side of the engine.

Today, I started the car from a cold start and checked the codes.  All I
got was 4444 (in flashes of the EGS light).  I was unable to find this
code listed in the Bentley.  Is this some form of OK code, or a code for
some known problem that Audi or Bentley didn't document, or one which I
was too blind to find?
