[s-cars] Fuel Gauge gremlin

Got an interesting one and wonder if anyone else ever experienced it.

In the cold months, gas gauge reads correctly, last spring as the outside 
temp came up it became erratic and even stopped working the warmer it got over 
the summer.  This fall, the gauge has become active again worked on cold days 
and not on warm days.  Now that winter is full on, the gas gauge works 
perfectly.  
Any ideas what could be expanding and contracting to cause this?
