HA! Look at the debacle I've begun.
OK, just looked at that pic again. I 'suppose' that could be that purplish
color just looking better with the way the light is hitting it. *BUT*, Audi
did make the A6 in a charcoal grey, probably in 96 or '97 my guess, that is
much more like the Dolphin Grey they have today. That is the color I
'thought' was in this picture, but I could be wrong.
So, recap: Cashmere Grey is that quartz color, changes in every light
Charcoal Grey was available on the A, but how about the S?
If so, what's it called?
Sorry to begin yet more confusion, I'm bored today 8-).

That's DEFINITELY Cashmere Grey. That color can really
change color depending on the lighting as well as the color
adjustment of your monitor.

Er... Cashmere Grey is that more purple tinted color (depending on what
light is hitting it at the time). More of a quartz. This is more a
anthracite / charcoal type color. Thanks though.

Paul:
I believe this is known as "Cashmere Grey" which is quite rare. There
was a cashmere grey 1997 S6 that for for sale in Vancouver this summer
that only had 25,000 km on it (16,000 miles) asking price was $26k CAD.
I have seen it once while driving in Vancouver.
I really like this colour too and I agree it's the ultimate in a Q-ship
/ sleeper. Had I known about this one before I bought my 1997 this
spring, I would have jumped at it.

Anyone have any info about what year(s) it was available, where, etc.
I've never ever seen nor heard of one before, though I have seen A6s
this color. Talk about the ultimate in stealth. While I too dig my
cammy green (Lee), this is the ultimate in Uber colors IMO. What's it
called, anyway? Looks like the new "Dolphin Grey".
Also, for any of you 4kq lovers, surf back through that link at what
site that is... er, 4kqV8 anyone??? Pretty f'n cool...
