Your dump valve will do that. Unless it is a recirculating type.

Of course, I could be wrong as so often before.

If you've seen either of the Fast and Furious movies, you're probably 
familiar with the pstsssss hissing sound the cars make when they shift 
gears or let up on the gas.  Recently, I've noticed my car doing it.  I 
don't imagine that it should.  It sounds as if it's coming from the 
driver's side. .  Is this a vacuum leak?
