[s-cars] ejection seats

  Sorry but there are no ejection seats on the shuttle. After the Challenger
accident in '86 they developed a bailout system similar to what you saw on
the Bruce Willis movie they had about the Asteroid (sorry but can't remember
the name). It is basically a hatch and a parachute to be used under fairly
controlled conditions. Developed to appease the Politicians but under most
conditions completely unusable. How do I know? I used to be a Jet/flying
proficiency instructor for NASA pilots in the T-38 Talon Supersonic Air
Force Trainer that NASA uses for the Astronaut Pilots.  MGH
