[s-cars] Follow-up: Why KISS the thermostat?

Why would you spend 1h under the hood... when you can
diagnose your T-Stat without touching a rachet or a bolt...
just seating warm and fuzzy in your recaro leather seat.
HVAC rules!

Marc Responds:

1. Because there are audi models out there without the
digital HVAC controller (I know it's the S-list, but I'm
dealing with an Audi 100S in my case, the direct precursor
to the S6).

2. Because you already know that the thermostat is bad and
want to check the new one before installing it.

3. Because the HVAC gives instant temp. It doesn't give the
transient speed the thermostat opens and closes, nor the
percentage of open/close it covers -- which is real
important in places like Florida where a 10% difference in
open range can equate to overheating under duress
situations.

4. Because for some people time is cheaper than money (high
school and college students immediately spring to mind).

5. Experience (it's a great beginner's project).
