[s-cars] Boost gauge

Perhaps an easier way might be to use the VDO Vision mechanical pressure
gauge 150 104, 0-30psig, labeled "Boost". Check out about 2/3 of the way
down http://continentalimports.com/vdo_vision.html for mechanical pressure
gauges. This would get a pressure only gauge, with a max of 30psig. Sounds
like it might kill two birds with one stone, yours wishing for boost only,
and Bob's wishing for 30psig max.
Another thought, what is the useful maximum range of the 150 121? It comes
with maximum markings of 25psig boost, but what happens if you ran 27 or
28psig into it? Would it just read off the top of the printed scale? Might
be worth extending the printed scale by 5psig when we do the custom face,
no?
If this could work, now all we need to do is figure out how to do VDO Vision
gauge faces in light grey on a red film. I like the idea of getting a
signmaker to do it in stick on. I'll check on this with a local signmaker.
More to follow, although not too soon, due to work schedule...
-Ian Duff.

RE: [s-cars] Boost gaugeOK,
Here is my idea... stop me if I'm crazy....
I thought to just get a spare oil pressure gauge, and a 0-30 PSI transducer.
Install the gauge in the clock area after having a new face made. It should
be fairly easy to repeat the face since the have the original material and
all.
Sounds easy NO ??
It's all nice and clean and easy.
The variables... a) what will the stealer want for the gauge ?
b) what would it cost to re and re the face ?
c) best place to get the transducer ?
Anyone overly interested in this route ?
The only negative is the oil pressure gauge is not the 270 degree style, and
it may be highly dampened. That may be fixable though.
regards,
Mark

Talk to Bob Pastore, perhaps he can set up a production run?

FYI, I shouted to several companies I found including Omori about custom
making a gauge, I'll post details if they warrant.
