I purchased the SPI boost gauge about a year ago and installed it in the spot
occupied by the clock. I didn't like the look of it. It was very close but
more white than our gauges are grey. I have a '92 so I do have the digital
boost gauge. Realizing that the stock gauge is a little slow and inaccurate,
and also wanting to monitor my RS2 setup a little more closely, I installed a
digital gauge from, I think the company was called, Odessey. I routed the
wiring through the glove box and used a plug so that it can be removed from
the car completely. The gauge sits in the golve box and if I need to have a
look or do some diagnostics, I simply take it from the glove box, I have some
prongs on the back with rubber feet that let it mount right under the IC
under the three gauges. I have about 3 feet of wiring for the gauge so I can
locate it various places. I also have an A/F meter in the vertical,
automatic transmission display area of the IC. It has a tinted piece of
plastic in the window, so it is only visible when its on. Both of these
gauges are wired through a switch in the glove box. I have found that I
leave them off and stowed about 90% of the time and switch them on and bring
them out for diagnostics or for a few high boost mountain pass runs. The
rest of the time I'm happier just looking at a stock interior.
