[s-cars] MORE SUV's on the ROAD?

Since we seem to be making political statements in the guise of
automotive news, here is my take:
Does anyone here imagine that GW Bush either suggests the details of tax
code proposals or even reads them? Complain about him appointing the
present Secretary of Treasury, or keeping the Head of the IRS, but don't
attack him for details spawned by his administration (most of the
employees of which were hired during previous administrations) that he
has neither the time nor specialty to investigate. Who of you would
bother to read a tax bill, much less recognize in reading one that
increasing the business deduction for capital equipment, which includes
trucks, decreases SUV ownership costs. BTW, in case y'all want to start
a business just to buy an SUV, the mileage had better be devoted to
business purposes or the IRS will git ya.
And lest we forget, truck ownership populariy, and thence the SUV craze,
was the result of passenger car EPA rules promulgated by Luddite
Naderites during previous administrations (mostly Democrat or with
Democrat controlled Congresses). These rules drove down passenger car
power-to-weight ratios while also reducing the cars' overall size. (The
wheelbase of my 2600 pound Corvair (compact 1966 American car) is two
inches longer than that of my S6.) As a result, the successful attempt
to drive 15 mpg Chevrolet Malibu's off the road has led to adoption of
12 mpg Chevrolet SUVs.
