Just thought I'd pass this along. Went to McGrath Audi in Glenview, IL ton=
ight to see about getting a new cig lighter for the S6. Mine had shorted o=
ut and couldn't be fixed. When I got there a very nice parts guy (parts is=
open until midnight, BTW!) set me up with the right part and ordered it, t=
hen told me the warehouse has 6 and I should have mine tomorrow. Pretty aw=
esome already. Then I asked if anyone there might have a routine for diagn=
osing my seat heater problem. He sent me to one of the "tech" guys, who af=
ter hearing my question, said "let's go talk to someone who knows more abou=
t it than me." Mind you, this is at 7:00 in the evening. He led me into t=
he shop area, where a really nice young man spent the next 1 1/2 hours goin=
g over wiring diagrams with me and then testing my seat heating system from=
top to bottom. Both switches, and full diagnostics under the seat. He de=
termined that it is the back, not the seat that is out. Then when I mentio=
ned my GALA wasn't working, he worked on my radio for another 20 minutes (t=
he speed sensor wire on the back of the unit looks pretty suspect). Then h=
e gave me a new cig lighter from his stock of "extra parts - you know, the =
one's we always have left over after fixing your cars!" I couldn't believe=
he did all this when it was so late, and I just walked in off the street.
I was very impressed and very thankful. He charged me nothing and I learne=
d a lot. I gave him my wife's brownies she had given me for the office but=
I forgot to take in. I just wish everyone in the auto industry was like t=
hat. That was a great experience and I'll definitely go back.
John
