With one foot in a8 land now I was fortunate enough to have "mr A8" Paul
Waterloo and fellow A8 owner Floris xxx over yesterday for a mini
audifest/alloy mirror install/check engine forensics.
Great guys they are! They had taken some digi pix and the event is recapped
over here on the other channel

Paul had pretty much ordered me to buy the S8 mirrors off German ebay and 5
weeks later they finally arrived. They are a work of art.
I had heard that theres race gas about 5 miles from my house and we verified
that on the ride over to Ace for some needed screws. Got 20 bucks worth,
got the screws and let Paul drive home. I think he liked it:)
So, now I'll be 12 steppin 110 octane @ $3.39 per. Hell its only a buck and
a half more than 93.
While tracking down a disconnected air pump hose, we checked out the timing
belt and it seemed purdy darn loose by general consensus.
??? How much slack should there be in a timeing belt ? I think it had at
least 2 fingers of deflection in the upper portion.
Also while idling, after pushing the accelerator, there seems to be an ever
so slight bit of a marble like rumbling as it returns to base idle, then goes
away. As I believe the 4.2 v8 is an interference fit, I fear there could be
a real problem here as a little noise while engine changes speed could be
caused by not good things hitting each other due to a slacky timing belt?
Any ideas men? I think the xxx wty kicks in in 30 days maybe. oh nice!
Now it may take me more than $8 worht of luncheon meat to get Paul to do that
timing belt. Ha!
Anyway, it was a really great time and now I have half a tank of race gas:)
