[s-cars] FW: Newbie Intro

Eric,
I bought my '93 with 149K on the clock, 3 years ago. The previous owner had
just replaced the clutch, flywheel, front and rear pads rotors. I would
check those items as they can be pricey. Since then, I replaced: power
steering pump, MAF sensor, temp sender, coolant expansion tank, heater
control valve, all coolant hoses (including O rings on intake), turbo hoses
(SAMCO thanks Jim). I would check these areas as well as the break booster,
suspension components, Climate control.
As far as reliability, the car is great. I have 190K now, and have done some
mods (Stage 1 +), the car is fast, comfortable and a blast to drive. I plan
on keeping it for a long while. I am getting the RS2 Bug.
Does anyone know if we can upgrade to the RS2 injectors before the RS2 Chip
and MAF?
Good luck
Bill Healy

But it still only reads up to 25 psig! That is not sufficient when you
have a 3.0 bar pressure transducer. :-(

Welcome Eric,
You have some serious S-nuts in Colorado. The inline 5 is pretty stout. My
friend's here in Ohio just turned 200k. He recently put a chip in that
allows
24lbs of boost. No problems. See if you can get specifics on the mods. Some
are better than others. MTM (Hoppen) and Intended Acceleration are the best.
TAP has a bit of a bad reputation. Don't pay too much. As great as these
cars
are they are usually cheap to buy. 145k miles ones can be had for under 10k.
More if it's really really nice. If you get it you'll enjoy it. This is also
a great list. They can cost some dough if you like to tinker though. Lots of
cool stuff available.

Anyone have any thoughts on overdriving the VDO Vision 150 121 to 30psig?
I'm still working, albeit slowly, on a new face for the 150 121 gauge, and
wonder if I should mark the boost side up to 30psig?

My estimate is that the general consensus would agree on 30 PSI... at least

The consensus seems to be that 30psig is a worthwhile target. I'm wondering
if the 25psig max VDO 150 121 gauge could be overdriven to 30psig on
occasion without grenading in the instrument cluster. Kinda like "my stereo
goes to 11...". Anyone with any useful thoughts on overdriving a boost
gauge?

All I know is, at 15psi, the fucker hauls serious ass, can't imagine 24psi.=

I should be able to pick it up for around 10k or so...beauty of it is, owne=
r just wants out of the loan and is willing to give me a nice "trade allowa=
nce" on my 83 Wolfsburg Scirocco.....it has a few minor dings and paint chi=

few years.
Looking in the ads here in Colorado...there aren't ANY S4s for under 10k...=
.remember, AWD carrys a premium around here...and Turbo...well another adde=
d bonus...high altitude is a killer on a NA car...where as a Turbo can make=
up alot of the altitude loss.

Eric,
That's probably just a wiring issue if you have new
