Guys,
I spoke to Ned Ritchie last night about the chip he installed in my S6 for
the previous owner. During the conversation, he mentioned to me that he had
looked up the original invoice and it read this:
---------------
11/12/98
Standard Stage III Software $695.00
Suspension Kit - Audi 200/5000/S4/S6 Special Steel Springs, Special Strut
Inserts & Struts $1,250.00
---------------
Here is what I know:
-Ned said that the springs were custom H&R, based on the 1990 Audi V8.
-He didn't know the spring rates.
-He didn't recall the brand of the struts/inserts.
-He also didn't do the install
-The springs are black with a clear heat shrunk plastic tubing around the
first few coils (spring perch side).
-The struts (well the rear one that I can see) are also black, with no
discernable markings.
IMO, the car may sit a little lower than standard Rancho. Maybe 1/2 inch.
Subjectively, the car rides stiffer than stock, but not quite 92 firm.
Compression and rebound are both excellent, and the car doesn't seem to lean
much in hard (for snow tire) cornering.
Any long time enthusiast know what I've got?
