G11 audi coolant is the audi (blue) equivelent of prestone (green). G12 audi
coolant is the audi (pink) equivelent of Dexcool (brown/orange). The rule of
thumb is that you don't want to mix the G11 and G12 based coolants, as they
cooagulate. The G11 mixes fine with prestone green IME, the G12 is a better
choice than the Dexcool for the long life ("lifetime") coolant.

Most documentation supports the contention that G11 has better heat exchange
properties (read: Ethylene glycol is tough to beat) than G12.

My take on this is to stick with the Prestone. I went down the same road,
but based my decision on, "What happens if I'm in the middle of nowhere, and
I need to add antifreeze? Prestone works, and finding a top-off is as easy
as finding a gas station. Pentosin could be impossible to find; so you
would need to BYOB.
