[s-cars] clicking noise

Need a little help here.  I have owned my 95 S-6 for over two years now and have had this ckicking noise that only occurs in
first gear.  As soon as I shift to 2nd gear the noise disappears. It has not gotten any worse, but is still there.  My mechanic has said that some times the gears just wear in that way.  I have never had any problems with my car other than the standard wear and tear.  Any one got an idea?  Thanks
