Randy,

You have the famous squealing fan motor problem. It seems we all have to
pass through this sooner or later. Mine does the same thing but only
after an hour or two. If I left the car sitting for a few minutes or
just stop the heater control and drive in the cold for a few minutes, it
will disappear for a while. That's why I've been too lazy to repair it
yet. The fix is cheap and, based on the instructions, not too long. You
have to get access to the fan motor and either lubricate or change. Some
listers have reported 1-2 years extended play with just some grease. If
you choose the more definitive fix, the motor is something like 50$. You

My 1994 S4 has a strange "chirping" sound coming from the climate
control on an irregular basis.  It seems to be coming from the fan
alone, because when I decrease the fan the sound slows down.  I have to
turn the climate control all the way off to make it stop.  I can
immediately turn it on again and the sound does not come back for a few
more minutes, but it will come back either a few minutes or a few days
later.

Also, when I first turn my ignition over in the morning when the car is
cold, I hear "gurgling" sound coming from the climate control until it
warms up enough to produce heat.

Any suggestions??
