Well the speed record broken by the Audi TT Bimoto at Nardo (371 km/h)
was done at night in september. I suppose this was for temperature
reason. The crew even fill up the air intake with ice cubes.

Frederic

Guys
Has anybody wondered why so many speed records, FIA Group and Class, are
set when its hot?
There is a trade-off between cold, dense air to the engine and heavy
thick air to fight the car through. This is presently being considered
by some of us over here. Based on discussions held with people with a
motor sports background and a frequent need to travel far and fast, the
thought is that very early in the morning in May is when the fastest
trips are made, in Europe, but we will carry out some tests at
P********g and see. Whilst the US has moved ship loads of earth moving
equipment to McMurdo Sound to build the Antartic polar Highway, perhaps
we could get them to grub out a 20km oval so we can establish that very
cold air is not a good idea!
Switching from 99/100 RON Octane to 117 Octane Race Gas raises the
BHP(sorry, I can't remember the Torque figures) on a tuned RS6 from
550bhp to 600bhp, well a little bit more.
