The proper phraseology would be the Happersize FMIC. Yes, all is well with
the big unit. Part of the price to be paid for running Happersized turbos is
the ferocious boost delta on either side of the throttle body. We haven't
measured it yet but I wouldn't be surprised to see twice the pressure
downstream of the TB. This delta exerts a Hawaiian sized pressure to the
HFMIC. I've had several leaks develop very insidiously. Since its not a hose
type of leak, there is no associated flutter. The crack in the I/C just gets
larger and larger. I was fooled once again and attributed the required
increase to my boost controller as ambient condition changes. That lasted
several weeks until I noticed threshold changes as well. Funny thing is that
the big turbo can compensate for quite a while, until the leak becomes
obvious. Dave Stone, an extraordinary machinist we have locally rewelded and
strengthened the turbo-side endtank. This will hopefully prevent further
leaks from springing forth.

The other problem I was having at the same time was a high boost ignition
flutter. After Dave Jones let me borrow an ignition coil set and the swapping
out of same, problem solved.

So, Dave, the Evergreen Machine is ready to rumble.

Hap, sizin' away in Everboost, Maguire
