In all fairness to Ken, I was thinking of his planned trip south from CT as
I was out Sunday night as well. May have been some folly, but there is a
chance that 1) he is driving a Canadian car and really means kph, and 2)
sections of wind-swept highway may have only had several inches of snow, not
actually feet, or 3) there's some exageration involved. I was comfortable
that evening at 50-55 mph, but always backed down to 3rd gear when
approaching and passing other vehicles. It is true that the vehicle is fun
in the snow - my exuberation may have been tamed a little by the three
little ones in the back and not a lot of driving experience, but comfortable
was what caused my grin. Doug
OK folks...
Blah blah blah, Ken drove from Toronto to Boston, then to CT in the blizzard
for a 5 minute chat, then straight onto NYC. Better him than me, at that
point we easily had a foot on the ground. NOT on the road though, just
hardpack with fluffy lane dividers. He was running Kumho snows. I had just
returned from Quattro'in around for 100 or so miles with the wife and kid in
car, and was cruising an EASY 55, sometimes 65-70, MPH.
Let's try not to paint with a broad brush...
Poor Ken. Intended to install his big reds Monday. Gets to Boston Sat.,
rear brakes fail and seize. Gets driven to my place Sun, picks up my old
rears, and drops off his big reds. Shop refuses to install the used rears
Mon (d'oh!). Snows like hell, doesn't get fronts done, and had to pay
through nose for OE rears. Man that sucks, I feel for ya Ken.

P.S. Ken Ng is pronounced "ing"... hey, inquiring minds wanted to know!
