Tue,

you will want to check the following (or do the following):

1. Check the voltages for the pressure sender unit at idle and against
at 2.5k RPM. If your voltage stabilizer for the circuit is bad, this
could be an electric fault as the basis for the reason.

2. There is also the possibility that there is a physical reason for
the loss of oil pressure -- if you have low oil content, then high RPMs
can be picking up a larger amount from the pan and thereby bringing it
down below the warning light level. Obviously, check the oil level.

3. Another physical reason that is possible is that there is a oil clot
or other obstruction within the oiling system, and as the pressure and
volume rise, it is enough to actually block the uptake or other passage
(a clogged oil filter will give the same symptoms). This is usually
best treated with an engine oil flush (using either a product such as
Gunk brand oil flush, which from personal experience, I recommend, or
the British way, doing an oil change to a light weight oil -- such as a
5 weight -- running for five minutes, and then doing a traditional oil
change to your regular weight oil). Either way, if you suspect there
may be a blocked passage, make sure you opt for the Mann brand filter,
as out of all the oil filters for Audi's I've disassembled, it has the
best oil clog catch/pressure relief system (by a long shot). If you
haven't changed your oil in the last 2,500 - 3k miles (5,000 km), do so
now, as well as your oil filter, to help eliminate the possibility...

Good Luck!
