Did you say radials? Hell I ran cars with bias ply tires and  belted tires,
before radials were readily available in Canada. Prior to that I did have
radials (Michelin) in the UK from the mid-fifties. Once in early 1970 a set
of rear wheel snows with studs lasted less than 2000 miles with all studs
scattered along the Trans Canada highway between Winnipeg and Banff for a
skiing trip. They were bias ply on a Cuda 340.
Fun, yes we did have fun! And still do.
My S4 makes a great ski car.
