[s-cars] Synthetic Oils

If I had to do it over, I wouldn't change the oil in the transaxle. Based on
my experience and from what I've learned on the list, I would recommend OEM
audi oil($20+ a liter), BG Synchroshift II, or Redline MT90, in that order.
I experienced initial stiff shifting in cold weather with Redline. Some
others have, some haven't. I don't know why. I guess Audi claims these trans
oils are lifetime oils, and from the cleanliness of the oil that came out, I
don't know that changing it is worth it.

Listeners: I have a 1995 S6 that is unmodified and has 83k miles; however,
I do plan on installing a Stage I chip at some point in time. I would like
to start using synthetic oil in the motor, as well as a synthetic gear oil
in the Quattro Transaxle and rear differential. I would appreciate any
recommendations as far as what brand and weight to use; especially, in the
Quattro Transaxle. I have heard good things about the Red Line products:
MTL, 75W90, etc. Thanks for your time.
