A case of "competition improves the breed". Of course, the Mitsubishi
(Yes! Mitsubishi of the Mitsubishi Zero fame) are importing the latest
Evo (Lancer) this year, so what's a Subaru to do? All well and good in
my mind. BTW -- picked up a WRX Wagon last weekend to haul the dogs
around. Don't get me wrong. They thoroughly enjoyed riding around in the
back of the S4 -- playing with the seat heaters and reading lights.
The WRX is pretty impressive, though break calls for keeping the revs
below 4k rpm. Unfortunately, this seems to be the point where the party
really starts. Should be a fun little car nonetheless and give me a
chance to address a few items on the S4. No getting away from the
econocar roots, but seems pretty well screwed together and handles very
nicely on the stock all-season rubber (soon to be addressed). Great
aftermarket to drain the wallet, too.
Pretty amusing -- the kid at my parking garage at work (w/ a hot-rodded
GTI) noticed the Subie right off. Said, "So you bought a FUN car".
Apparently, the S4 and M Roadster register pretty low on the
twenty-something FUN meter. An STI would probably have him begging for
adoption. :-)
