Joern / Tommy A. and other curious supporters,

You will have to look at the power curves and make up you mind about which
combo is best, I own the one I would rather drive and that I think is much
much faster. To see which is faster you must look at the area under the power
curves where and how long the power lasts. Pls. don't start a debate (at
least with me involved I am happy and wont play) and expect me to play.

I had to leave before stroker was don so I will not say anything about that
adventure but.....

I got on race gas blend ( 10 gal 104 + 7 gal 92 = 99 octane) 514 lb./ft. at
crank (25% tranny loss) - 385.2 lb/ft at wheels without correction of any
type// and 502.4 hp at crank and 376.7 at wheels with no corrections to any
#'s at wheels, crank #'s are applied with a 25% tranny loss which the dyno
facility has confirmed on other Audi's. Tom S. (tuner) felt more was avail
with a few changes, but given my car was smokin and Peter's project car still
had issues I got off since Peter had a lot of chip tuning still to go. 100hp
a hole is good enough right now, for awhile, maybe!

Now to the real world with shitty gas. On Pump Gas (92 oct.) I got 475 lb. ft
at the crank (25% correction for driveline loss) and 355.3 lb./ft. @ wheels
(no correction) and 474 hp at crank (25%) and 355.3hp at wheels (no
corrections). These are good peak #'s and I would have been happy with
either. The very pleasant surprise was the way the power curve formed (I will
post the graphs at a future date). I had over 300 lb/ft or HP @ the wheels
from 4300rpm thru 8000 rpm on race gas and had over 360 lb/ft or HP @ the
wheels from 4500rpm thru 7500 rpm . The guy who ran the dyno said he had
never seen such a good power curve on any car. He pulled up a new Porsche GT2
curve and it only made 30 more peak HP with a power curve that didnt even
come close. This guy said my car (even @ 4000lbs) would annihilate at 996
twin Porsche, and he really hated to admit that.

I am extremely pleased with the results of this project. Tom S. says the 540+
will only take an intake manifold. the manifold should also get me to 500 on
pump gas.

I am very very pleased. The drivability is just like stock (stock hp peak
exceeded from 3900 rpm thru 8000rpm) but with much more balls. No miss
hexsitation/or ANY problems.

Huge thanks to: Tommy A. for hooking us up with Tom S (and hope you are able
to come next trip).

Tom Smaltz who is not only a great tuner but a great man (we actually learned
to communicate without the interpreter (ist Guud). This guy knows more about
Audi 5 cylinder engines than God.

Tim Mclean and Northern European Automotive is the best Audi wrench I have
met with no-one even close he deserves absolute credit for getting the Black
stroker done right despite monumental obstacles. Also Tim's guys are really
good. I feel at home and would trust them with anything I have (obviously
so). I have traveled the country for shops and this is mine despite a 820mile
distance 1 way. You guys in the north have it lucky. I count myself lucky to
have Tim as a friend

Spencer at Speedsport tuning who is a wizard on Porsches and has a wealth of
knowledge on any engine and doesnt just read it he has seen it. I think this
will also develop into a friendship.

Also thanks to the East coast version of the 'Colorado Mafia' for providing
some good beer and plenty of entertainment, I think they enjoyed the
adventure (they didnt have to worry about something going boom) and helping
me keep a sense of humor during a difficult wait period.

This was a difficult week. I drove into Concord NH in a bad storm and
returned via NY in a bad storm. Glad I bought the Dunlop m2's also great
highway tires /most comfortable.

Thanks to all who cheered this project and offered support. If you weren't
behind the support thing I want to offer a hearty 'screw you', we got it done
without your good wishes (which I for 1 never doubted).

More to come but I wanted to get something out,
Rod
