[s-cars] wider wheels - opinion

So I already have bigger brakes and more HP, custom rear adjustable coil
overs and soon adjustable fronts also. I was just out at Thunderhill
raceway and found that I would really like more tire. I am also signed
up to run the One Lap this year which would require me to run a min of
140 tire wear rated tires, no hoosiers, no slicks. I am thinking that I
may just go with a set of SSR's and stick with 255's, expecially if I
could just run a set of used slicks for track day's. Since this isn't
the case I was interested if anyone has put on larger tires. I know it
is possible but I would be interested in anyone's experience to this
end. I want to stick with 17's because I have heard there is a real
problem with pinch flats and rim damage on one lap.
So far I have had a hard time finding one piece 17X9's, Fiske, HRE and
Kinesis will all give me a discount but they are all still approx
800-500 a wheel. They are also 19-20lb where the SSR's are 16-17lb.

agree, note, though, that these wheels were standard in '92, and became
optional on the later cars. there were also no-cost optional 15" wheels
for all-weather rubber that some may consider "standard"

on this, I (and I'm sure many others) disagree. larger wheels/tires can
add significantly to driving performance, pleasure being a very
subjective quality. and what's wrong with a nice looking set of wheels?

for most big-brake kits, you won't get stock wheels back on, so one must
come with the other. That said #1, I agree brakes should be one of the
first performance mods you consider, then wheels & tires. That said #2,
993tt big-reds on RS2 brake brackets over ur-S8 (euro)/A8L rotors
(323x30) fit under the urS4/6 5-spoke forged wheel using a 5mm spacer.
