Pizzo pontificated:

Since we're all gluttons for punishment...is there any
conceivable way to retrofit EDL to a pre-95.5 car?

Joey Joey.....

Conceivable? Yes.

Feasable? Probably not.

Best guess is the following:

Replace ABS Hydraulic Unit (engine compartment)
Replace ABS Electronic Controller (under the seat ? )
Replace all rear brake lines and associated fittings.

Possible also:
Replace all wiring between Hydraulic and Electronic unit
Replace Master Cylinder & Reservoir if different for EDL

All that and you still run the risk of some differences in communications messages on the vehicle bus or dashboard being different and causing the whole thing to not work.

Much cheaper to install a torsen, which is what I'd suggest, unless you do a lot of deep-snow offroading and need a locker.

Keith
93 S4, still needs Torsen, 6-speed, LWFW, and properly sprung clutch
95 968CS, trying hard not to upgrade any more...
03 POS Rental SUV, needs to be buried in a snow bank
