[s-cars] Air Filters?

Given that it's a 30k mile item, cost savings won't amount to much. Also,
given that it's an oiled item in the intake path upstream of the MAF,
potential of killing the MAF is to be considered. Folklore has it that the
intake plumbing is usually pretty optimized by the mfg, like a cone usually
*decreses* hp, even when fed only cold air. I had a K&N panel in my old
Coupe quattro, and was mostly satisfied with it, except I never knew how
much oil was enough, and when to stop oiling to stay away from too much.
Simpler for me to stick with factory stuff, and keep it fresh.

At the risk of opening a can of worms...

Have you considered a foam panel filter?  I have a 2 stage Amsoil
reusable filter and have been satisfied with it so far.
