RE: [s-cars] 93 Infrared Key Not WorkingThanks all for your help.

The putting one key in the ignition, turning ignition to on, locking the door manually with second key, then aiming at IR receiver and hitting button once to program memory #1 works. The horn honks briefly and the door unlocks.

However, as soon as I turn off ignition and remove the key, the IR no longer works. This tells me it can't be battery, since the key disarms the system via IR every time with the ignition on, but no longer works via IR with ignition off.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Bruce

  This worked for me:

Press infrared key transmitter button while pointing key at infrared sensor.

Within one minute of pressing transmitter button, manually "lock" the
passenger door. (can't remember if it was already unlocked, or locked to
  begin with).

  Infrared system is now reactivated.

If it's a deeper out of sync issue, you will have to follow the advice of "Master-Munro", see post below...

  Cheers, J.

    Paul;

    This usually works:

    1. Remove back seat bottom
    2. Open right rear door.
    3. Lock car with key or remote.
    4. Disconnect battery.
    5. Unlock car with key.
    6. Reconnect battery.

This manually resets the lock & alarm system to where the electronics "know"
    it is.

My main key is no longer working when aimed at the IR receiver on either door.

The car was in the shop, and seat and window switches were removed, and battery was most likely disconnected at come point. Batteries in the key are new, and it worked fine.

I remember a thread on this, but cleverly can not find it now. Can someone remind me of the procedure for resetting the key to work via Infrared?

    Thanks.
