Please ignore the immediately previous email I sent. My return key
got away from me after I entered the send-to addresses and shouldn't
have hit return to send it ... before I wrote anything.

Something I think is important. If there was a mechanical problem
in the compressor, metal particles can have traveled through the
system and can mess up a replacement compressor. If a supplier (new
or remfg either) is going to stand behind a warranty, they are probably
going to require you to replace the dryer since it tends to catch &
acccumulate particles that may be in the system. When you are talking
to suppliers, ask them what else they recommend or require for warranty
purposes.
Also, ask if the units are rebuilt or are remanufactured. This may
vary from state, but in Ohio it's like this: Rebuilt means that the
problem was repaired, remanufactured means that all wearing parts
were replaced.
Someone, Dave I think, suggested having a "compressor-a-thon" for group
replacements. Unless one of you has all the equipment including the
refrigerant recovery and vacuum evacuation equipment I don't think you
want to do this yourselves. You might check and see if a license is
required for purchase of refrigerant in quantity.
For those of you here in the Columbus area, the shop that diagnosed
my problem, and installed the compressor after I ordered it was
Acceleration AC & Import Car Service, 5193 North High, 614-436-8085.
