[s-cars] A/C Compressor Needed

I spoke to Doyle from Hancock Industries in Texas. He has the core for
the Zexel DCW-17B (direct fit for UrS4/6) and wants $359.50 for a re-
manufactured (not repaired or re-conditioned) A/C compressor. The core
charge is $150. His part number is 43-7021E. Warranty requires dryer
(accumulator) and Orifice be replaced. Dryer is $36.58 and Orifice is
out-o-stock. For each additional unit requested (2 or more) he can
take 10% off that price, let’s assume that’s 10% off the dryer and
orifice as well. I can give him a list of names and he can deal with
ya’ll individually. Based upon the list consensus, this is not a DIY
job due to the refrigerant, the special tools and equipment and the
overall cost effectiveness. Anybody know the spec. labor hours for an
A/C compressor replacement? While this job is being done anything else
that is easy to do at the same time, like the belt? Doyle said
that “Four Seasons” is the largest US remanufacturer – and here I
thought it was that fabulous resort in Bali that my wife still talks
about. Sorry if I missed anyone on the subject copy list.

Doug

Robert, it's looking like that 20% re-stocking charge ain't so bad.
