As I put in my report Rod, they are a joke.  First, they are rated at 60-80w,
typical are the 60's.  To put that in perspective, the 200w block mount one
in my report is for snowmobile, chainsaw and small engines.  The minimum one
should use for an audi is 300w.  The maximum one should use for an audi
(overnight plug and forget) is 800w.  Somewhere in between those two is your
I5 cold environment.  That means a 60w dipstick heater is marginally better
than nothing, but I'd argue, a bigger PITA than nothing at all.  Remember,
when you actually drive your audi with closed loop PCV, the dipstick needs to
be removed and replaced with stock before startup = mess.

The nice thing about the magnet mounts, is they can be removed after winter,
and just plopped on for the cold climes.
