Check the set-bolt(for lack of a better name) that fixes the 'collar' onto
the selector shaft on the tranny.

Mine worked itself loose, and the symptoms start out as trouble getting
into certain gears- for example, I was able to shift into 2nd and 4th, but
1st and 3rd would, as the bolt loosened, become more and more difficult.

Oh, and the shifter becomes incredibly sloppy :-)

It's easy to tell- if it's loose enough to be causing problems, it'll be
loose enough to turn quite a bit with your fingers.
